The company was set up by two university friends and travelling companions, who found that the silk sleeping bag (or silk liner as some call it) was an invaluable piece of equipment on their journeys abroad, accompanying them on trips to North America, South America, Eastern Europe, Southern Africa, the Greek Pelopanese and the Far East.
However whilst being an important piece of equipment the silk sleeping bag was also over priced and difficult to buy in the UK, leading to the nucleus of an idea and then the formation of the company.

Since 1999 the Silk Sleeping Bag Company has established itself as the specialist supplier of silk sleeping bags in the UK. Due to its niche position and purely online sales the company is able to compete with the big high street retailers, keeping prices down and quality high, while also ensuring high class production knowledge and information. |
